Vygon UK is part of the Vygon Group of companies that have supplied the global healthcare market for over 50 years. They are a dedicated supplier of single-use medical and surgical products to the NHS. Alongside the vital health products that Vygon UK manufactures and provides to the UK health industry, they are also continuously working to reduce their environmental impact related to the production and disposal of their products.

Consultation with Energy Gain UK started in 2020 that focused on making a large reduction into Vygon’s Scope 2 emissions. Energy Gain UK were instructed to provide a feasibility study, design, supply, execute and maintain a rooftop solar photovoltaic system for Vygon UK. The 503 kWp system is forecasted to generate approximately 473,317 kWh of zero-carbon electricity, making a reduction of 110 tonnes CO2 a year from their carbon footprint and a £66,000 reduction from their energy bills. With the sustainable procurement demand within the NHS, Vygon’s efforts will not go unnoticed and will also help in providing Vygon with endless marketing and supply chain opportunities.

An interesting fact about our install is that the Vygon warehouse, formerly the manufacturing warehouse for Motorola, starred in the James Bond film ‘The World is not Enough’ as a Turkish oil platform.

“In 2020 I was tasked with a Strategic Project focused on Renewable Energy and started the process by contacting a variety of energy companies aiming to identify an organisation to partner with in order to deliver renewable energy solutions for the Vygon UK Site.

During this process I met with Craig Jones (Energy Gain MD), Craig is enthusiastic, experienced and knowledgeable of existing and developing energy solutions. Working with Craig and the Energy Gain Team has enabled us to act quickly installing a 504KWp system in Autumn 2020, Craig’s availability and support aligned with the speed of the teams response ensured the installation was seamless with minimal disruption.

As we consider future renewable energy options, I am confident that Energy Gain value Vygon as a customer and partner. We have a unique site providing challenges and learning opportunities for both parties to embrace new technology, enabling the development of a hybrid approach to deliver our site energy requirements through innovative renewable solutions.

We have developed a strong Customer/Supplier relationship which is mutually beneficial to both Vygon and Energy Gain. “
