The effects of anti-dumping

“Europe needs solar growth to capture its share of the 15% 2020 renewables targets”.

Europe currently imports approximately 70% of its solar panels (solar pv) from China, the result of the anti dumping tax is going to be higher install prices to the end customer, which will in turn suppress demand.
This will have a significantly negative effect on solar jobs and PV deployment in the UK and across Europe.  We are part of the Solar Trade Association who along with AFASE and many other PV companies across the European PV supply chain do not support any form of duties on imported products.  A majority of 18 to 4 European Countries agree with this sentiment, so these provisional duties come as a blow to the solar industry.
Safeguarding approx 25,000 Solar PV manufacturing jobs across the EU whilst jeopardising 200,000 jobs in the installation side of renewables makes absolutely no sense.  Europe needs solar growth to capture its share of the 15% 2020 renewables targets. While financial support from governments is constantly reducing, growth is dependent on cost effective deployment, utilising economies of scale currently available from only a few countries such as China.
