Dumping duties

The European Commission is set to make a decision on whether to impose provisional duties of a minimum of 37.3% on Chinese imported solar pv modules, cells and wafers. This decision will be made on Wednesday 5th June, and if implemented, will come in to immediate effect from the 6th June.
The 27 European states voted overwhelmingly in favour NOT to impose these duties. However despite the 18 no votes, 5 abstentions, and 4 yes votes, it is still possible that that the EC will implement these duties, arguing that they are only provisional, and a definitive decision will be made by December 5th.

“Even six months of these high provisional duties will be damaging to the current fragility of the UK Solar PV sector”

In our opinion, even six months of these high provisional duties will be damaging to the current fragility of the UK Solar PV sector. It is important we continue to put pressure on Commissioner De Gucht to hear the message from industry : ‘We do not want duties!’
